Inhale the good, exhale the bad.
Breathe in to gather the negative things together and breathe out to expel them forever.
Breathe in.
Frustrated drivers honking in traffic.
Breathe out.
Wind blowing through nearby aspen trees.
Breathe in.
People walk by, instantly judged.
Breathe out.
Release internal dialogue. Stand, mind quiet, eyes closed.
Breathe in.
Tummy rumbles, impatient for dinner.
Breathe out.
Shoulders relax down, away from my ears.
Breathe in.
So cold.
Breathe out.
Clouds break, sun warms my back.
Breathe in.
My reflection, met with a frown, analyzing.
Breathe out.
Forgive and embrace me.
Breathe in.
Waiting for job news.
Breathe out.
Determined faith.
This is beautiful, Daphne. You captured what being present is all about. Acceptance, love, hope and faith all in one breathe. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love it! It makes my chest feel full and cleansed. I think you captured just the right presence.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this is awesome. I was breathing right along with you, Daphne. Loved the honesty of it --- and the freshness. * Thank you *
ReplyDeleteJill - I'm so glad to see you here! Thank you so much for the compliment.
ReplyDeleteAngelia - Thank you so much! It's amazing what focused breathing can do for one's body and spirit, just as you said.
Megan - You're so nice to say so! Thank you so much for your encouragement and support.
We're going through the same thing....I like this post because it reminds me that I need to stop and just breathe for a minute.
ReplyDeleteKid Icaurs - Thanks so much for your comment. We can find strength in each others' experiences. Breathing can definitely help!
ReplyDeleteThat was lovely, Daphne. Thank you! Believe it or not, it just helped me step away from the candy corn. Especially the "breathe in, tummy rumbles" part. "Breathe out, you don't need the candy corn." =) Thank you for the inspiration this afternoon!

Mindy - Thank you so much! I'm so glad it helped you, how awesome! My tummy is rumbling over your meatloaf recipe...
ReplyDeleteThis could be a morning prayer to get the day going right. Beautifully written!
ReplyDeleteI love this. I find myself irritated by a lot of inspirational writing; it seems to ignore the minor (and major) irritations of life. Yours acknowledges human weaknesses and petty nuisances without getting mired in them.
ReplyDeleteJodi - What a great idea! Thank you so much for the compliment. I have actually been saying "Breathe, faith, smile" over and over to myself since I wrote this. It helps me focus on the present.
ReplyDeleteMary - How wonderful of you to stop by and comment! Thank you so much for the compliment, that means a lot to me.
